What GSR’s Do

Introduction

Group Service Representatives, or GSRs, act as liaison between their meeting group and the Tucson CoDA Intergroup (TCI), providing information in both directions.

GSRs are chosen by their CoDA Meeting Group via an informed group conscience of the group they represent. Each GSR (and preferably an alternate) is selected by any method deemed appropriate by their group.

Healthy meetings rotate volunteers in various meeting service roles, including GSRs. Their term is usually 1-2 years, but it may be different as determined by group conscience of each independent meeting.

Activities and Roles

  1. TCI meets at least two hours every other month. We meet to consider and decide on actions to be taken on behalf of the local CoDA fellowship. GSR’s represent their meetings at Tucson CoDA Intergroup meetings, discuss local CoDA issues and vote on motions using the Group Conscience process.
  2. Agenda items are emailed to GSR’s prior to each meeting and each GSR can add agenda items at that time.
  3. Minutes of the previous Intergroup meeting are prepared and reviewed.
  4. Tucson CoDA Intergroup meetings are held on one Saturday of odd months. The meeting is currently held via Zoom and the Zoom link is provided on the agenda. Contact Sara J at 520-343-3090 for exact dates, times and login information.
  5. At the meeting, we ask that each GSR introduce themselves as a GSR and identify which meeting they represent.
  6. As a GSR you are encouraged to vote on all decisions made during the meeting and, at times, vote via email.
  7. We ask that all who attend follow the Twelve Traditions to the best of their ability, especially placing ‘principles before personalities’ when discussing issues.
  8. At each meeting each GSR shares basic information regarding the meeting they represent.
  9. After each TCI meeting, GSR’s report Intergroup information and activities back to their meetings.
  10. If the GSR is unable to attend Intergroup, it’s helpful to ask another member of your meeting to fill in and update your meeting at the next Home Group business meeting.
